George Michael R.I.P

Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (25 June 1963 – 25 December 2016) aka George Michael

George Michael did it all. Bobby socks boy band singer, major adult music performer, AIDs campaigner, sexual criminal, jailbird, marijuana advocate and anti Margaret Thatcher pro Mine worker protagonist.

He certainly did not fit the mode that others in his original field would normally represent. His fights with Sony tested the music business model for singers and his aim to be a serious musician for a serious time led him attacking George Bush and Tony Blair for their militaristic stance.

His death on Christmas Day has got to be the final death of a major star this year. Although the way things have happened so far their is bound to be another one.

This poem is made during a constant listening of my favourite George Michael singles The Recluse and Freedom ’90. Loved the idea and confusion it must have caused the establishment and the teen fans when Wham did a tribute concert for the striking miners in the 1984-85 campaign.

Sonnet For George Michael

Hey boys and girls
Try meeting me on Hampstead Heath
Cowboys and angels
Ad lib when you feel like death

Have a fully amazing time
But I declined
Living as family guy is a sign
Airing a tune trying to get high

Fear on the increase in the states.
Has it really been 26 years
Listening to the message and don;t be late

Could you ever make any difference
Comment about Freedom and The Recluse
I leave you with my silence.
