Kasparov On Poker

Garry Kasparov

The greatest chess player that ever lived, Gary Kasparov, believe that artificial intelligence will not be achieved until a computer can play poker to a great standard. This is about the best thing I have ever heard. Simply put poker bots as they stand can be beaten – as I have done several times – because they cannot cope with irrational play.

I once went all in with 8,5 unsuited and picked up 2 pair. My opponent could not believe it when he lost and called me all the names under the sun. What he did not know was that I knew he was using a bot and decided to play irrationally therefore confusing his bots mathematics.

Several people I know have done the same and yes after a while bots will always beat a bad player but a bot will never beat a sensible player who plays irrationally.
