Leonard Simon Nimoy (March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015)

The man who played Spock in the ground breaking series of Star Trek died yesterday. Leonard Nimoy could be described as the uber nerd as he seemed to be mind melted into the part of Spock. To further his credentials as appealing to those who love fantasy he made musical albums which re-enforced his other worldliness.

In the end he did have a problem with the character and even he claimed it took over large parts of his life and led to alcoholism. He eventually beat alcoholism and when the Star Trek franchise became popular again he was one of its driving force, and directing  Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home which became the most successful Star Trek movie.

He played other roles such as Paris in Mission Impossible and narrated a program on paranormal called  In Search of…,

However, for all intense and purposes he will be Spock from Star Wars and his farewell wave of ”…live long and prosper….” will be used forever.
