Hull KR 44–10 Catalans Dragons

• Tony Smith’s Wolves maul Huddersfield 40-18
• Castleford rally from 22-12 down to dash Crusaders hopes

Hull KR claimed a best-ever Super League position of second with a 44–10 home romp against a Catalans Dragons team who had won their last four. ‘We were OK without being brilliant, and I certainly won’t be getting carried away,’ said the Rovers coach, Justin Morgan. The Robins may well be the best-supported club at Murrayfield next weekend, when they play Warrington on Sunday night in the last of the seven fixtures being played in Edinburgh. That should be a fascinating game as the Wolves continued their recent improvement since the appointment of the England coach, Tony Smith, by beating Huddersfield 40–18, with their Australian wing Chris Hicks scoring his second hat-trick in consecutive matches in which he has plundered a total of 54 points. Celtic Crusaders‘ hopes of a first league win were shattered by Castleford, who came from 22–12 behind at the Brewery Field with four late tries for a 34–22 victory.
