The sad news of Barney Deehan will be a great loss to all those that knew him. The epitome of the ‘lone wolf’ Barney was always his own man. He kept his own counsel, however, if something was wrong he would always stand up for what was right and never back down no matter the odds.
He knew he was dying for over a year but would never broker any sympathy. In effect he was a man’s man. He was a devil to play poker against because he had a great poker face and looked the same if he had a pair of ace’s or 7-2 off suit. He did like rules to be set in stone and woe betide the man or woman who broke the house rules.
His funeral is on Friday 4th of September 2009 and the wake will be held at McDwyers on the Warwick Rd in Birmingham. A tribute is being planned at The Wagon and Horses also on the Warwick Rd, Sunday 6th of September 2009.
Further information will be posted as soon as notified.
