Do you have an outrageous fishing story?
My dad lives down in Miami and when I go down to visit him I always book a chartered boat and go deep sea fishing. We have been on the boat all day drinking needless to say. No one had caught anything special, some orange snapper, some parrot fish. Finally my rod takes a dip and the line starts zipping. We caught some thing big. After about 45 minutes into fighting this fish, we finally see a fin. Can it be? Turns out we have a bull shark on the other end of the line adrenaline is pumping now.
Two and a half hours later and my arms feeling like over cooked pasta we now have the shark on the boat. 4 feet long we are told that its a juvenile and we have to release it. I pose for the camera with the shark in hand.
Now to be honest with you I was very scared holding this thing after learning that these guys are more aggressive and dangerous than a great white. Well the shark whips out it’s tail, pop out of my hand into the direction of my buddy who is snapping the picture.
My buddy flips out slips on the deck (claims he was still a little heavy after the drinks) hits the side of the boat and goes over, taking with him the only camera we have!
His cell phone money camera, everything goes with him into the water. Meanwhile the captain of the boat is trying to figure out how to get this machine of teeth snapping everywhere off the boat while getting my buddy out of the water.
Eventually we get my buddy on the boat and push the shark out with some nets out the door in the back of the boat. We were all pretty bummed we had no picture, but the captain of the boat reassured us that this story would stick with him for a story to tell others who will charter with him and told us that this story will always stick with us. I’m still telling this story till today!
