Well it was going to happen sooner or later. There was going to be a back lash to the global policy instigated by the super rich of privatising profitable enterprises and socialising unprofitable enterprise.
Since Lehman’s Day and the policy of placing toxic investment at the feet of future tax payers so that those who invested in them did not lose money. Followed by Quantitative Easing where they gave banks and other institutions a van load of electronic money to get the banks to borrow money out and make investments in industry. The only problem with this plan was that the super rich got access to this money at 0% and were able to make a profit by borrowing the money out at 1%+ in housing, derivative trading and safe bets such as oil and coffee and make another shed load of money without the cost of staffing.
Why would you invest in stuff which could take 5, 10, 20 years to be really successful when you can nick a few quid by risking other peoples money knowing full well that the government will not let you go bust, if you take a stupid risk because they are too scared of upsetting the other oligarchs, so, the government quietly create austerity programs, fear of immigrants, fear of religious death cults and fear of the concept of the welfare state and put all the cost of the risk on those that never created the mess in the first place.
The ordinary people know there is something wrong but as in Animal Farm they just cant put their finger on it.
But as those in Euroland are preparing to do what the Americans and British have being doing all along, here comes a slight fly in the ointment – SYRIZA!
I must admit I don’t know a lot about Syriza and by looking at the organisations affiliated I can see silly arguments kicking off as it used to do in left wing/progressive circles back in the day. They do have one thing going for them – they have had enough of the scam being perpetrated on the populace of Greece. Since Greece is the home and cradle of the democratic concept it is fitting that they are the ones with the balls and the will to take on the super rich and their allies who have the numbers and are willing to do anything to keep the status quo.
The oligarchs, plutocrats and super rich will unleash, nationalist thugs, electronic surveillance, religious bigots to deliberately damage their own countries economy, in an attempt to replace Syriza with a more compliant entity, it is what they do and have always have done.
The oligarchs and super rich will find an excuse to mess things up and then get a ‘strong man’ to ‘rectify’ the mistakes that were carried out. These evil people will plead a love for their country that is why those immigrants, gypsies, disabled, the poor, the peace makers, etc etc need to be taken out. Enough ‘dumbos’ will believe what they have been told, because they have just been given bread for the first time in a week by the servants of the oligarchs and super rich.
The only thing that is going to help those who believe in truth, equality, peace and democracy is that the 70 years after the Second World War there will have been enough educated sensible people who can see beyond the policy of division and pettiness, setting the poor to fight amongst themselves while the ruling class and their benefactors keep taking their cut.
If Syriza and their ilk fail, then those in charge will start dismantling, free education, free health treatment, decent housing and a full stomach. Why would you blame them if they do? They got away with Lehmans Day, why not go the whole hog and create a robber baron society?
