The most important day in USA history since the Cuban Crisis is about to be played out on TV today. The concept that ‘the revolution will not be televised’ has been destroyed. The Trump Revolution (anti-establishment, anti-civil society, anti-intellectual, anti-science) is having it’s moment of crisis. The leader has shown himself to be the ‘Deplorable-in-Chief’ via a 11 year old video in which he admitted that he would sexually assault women because he was entitled to due to his fame!
Normally this would be beyond the pale for any candidate in a respectable, fully functioning democracy, but, this is not a normal election cycle.
So it is important that this is played out and civil, non-feral voters turn out in numbers and destroy the candidate and his party electorally. There is nothing wrong lusting after potential sexual partners, there is nothing wrong in getting the best deal possible, there is nothing wrong in being a debauched, degenerate and reprobate as long as you realise that this make you an outsider and not a role model for civil society.
There are rules for a cohesive society and hating the worst aspect of your personality help society to grow into a good society. Call it political correctness, call it hypocrisy, call it self hatred, but, doing what you want when you want will lead to all sort of problems.
Politics is like a game of poker. As in poker once you have been caught bluffing, basically your reputation has been destroyed. Likewise when you have been caught doing or saying the wrong thing in a democracy it is up to civil society to also do the right thing.
Therefore, Trump cannot be allowed to leave the field and let the Democrats off the hook. Civil society will have to hold its nose and vote for Clinton as the only sane and responsible adult on the ballot paper.
