COMPANY STATEMENT: PKR
ISLE OF MAN – Following a request from PKR on Wednesday 3 May 2017 at 17:32, Microgaming suspended gameplay on PKR.com.
Microgaming is aware that their games remain offline and players are speculating about the reason for this. As soon as Microgaming has more information on the situation, it will be shared as soon as possible.
The information and act of PKR poker going in administration is a shame but not unforeseeable incident.
They were always a company ahead of their time. The concept of a virtual poker room in which characters could be designed and be interactive was always a good one, except the technology did not match up with the ambition.
I remember at the time bleating on about online poker 2.0 along with Marius on what would make the online poker experience more interesting and got involved with PKR and subsequently lost money in affiliation fees. Then I tried to get involved with PKR but found them very restrictive and unwilling. After about 6 months I got fed up and cut my losses, never to go back.
To be frank I completely lost any information about them and did not know anyone who played on their site apart from the few early players almost 10 years ago.
So the question is what happens now with poker 2.0? It is clear that the US will have to legalise online poker properly. Yet another idea I have been banging on about for a long time.
