I have been invited to my first ever nap tournament which is taking place at The Staffordshire Knot this Sunday. I have never played the game before and will have an intensive coaching session in the afternoon by a guy who thinks shouting at people helps them to learn quicker…..
I am assured that like poker it is easy to learn, but very hard to master. But apparently with my ‘quick witted intellect’ (their words not mine), I should get to grips with the game in no time at all. This is all very well but it sounds like a classic hustle – ”don’t worry we only have a gentle friendly game so bring your wallet and mortgage repayments….”
Why am I having a dabble at a game that sounds like snap with the intensity of blackjack? We we will be doing our first live stream of the final table from The Staffordshire Knot. It will be our trial of the equipment we have purchased to do this job. Please do not expect a ‘Late Night Poker’ type production as this will take place in a darts pub after a heavy afternoon drinking session. So the controlled environment will be non-existent.
What will happen is a look into the future of pub card games because as I understand it nap has the gambling elements of brag, but the skill of bridge and the opportunity for subterfuge of poker. This should be fun to capture and show on the internet.
So wish me luck this Sunday while I chuck another £10 to a hopeless cause of trying to win a tournament….again!
Some more news on the live streaming events we will be doing. Rebel Joe has decided to have a go at playing poker. Well if his poker game is as good as his singing then I will enjoy many nights taking money off the guy.
