You’ve got to give it to the German nation they know how to win at football in all levels. Their men, women and youth teams constantly feature at the top end of most competition that they enter. They always seem to get the lucky breaks, but, in this game most luck will even out over time.

The match between the German Women v the Norwegian Women was a classic case in point. Norway had two penalties and did not convert none. The German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, made two brilliant, if lucky saves. She was absolute class! Yes the Norwegian penalty takes could have waited a second later to see the German goalkeeper commit herself.

Winning the Euro final gave German Women’s football a sixth straight win. Which means for 20 years German Women’s football completely dominated European football. In fact they may have dominated World football, I am not sure but there cannot be many sides that are better than Germany at the moment since female European football has to be one of the richest in the World.

Just done a Wikipedia search and USA Women’s football is rated higher so the Germans do have a rival with cash.

The thing about Germany and football is that their league is not the richest but they have put in place rules about pricing and ownership which does seem to benefit the supporters and help generate skilful players. Maybe their model for national football should be copied by English football?

Seeing a game in the UK has become a luxury, In Germany it is still a nice past time for the working family. It is alright having World class players from around the World but unlike Spain, England has not come close to winning a international cup since 1966!

The English Premier League is the richest in the World but the money isn’t producing a team which can truly compete and compete well.

What will happen soon is that the money is going to put people off and there will be a shakedown of all the badly run clubs which can be seen as a boutique item for a entrepreneur on a charge, or, a toy for a young rich playboy. The business model is not looking sustainable.  There again who would have thought that Chelsea and Manchester City would be classed as richer clubs than Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur?

German football at all levels is the way to go!
