Phillip Hughes died after a freak accident during a game of cricket. He was hit by what could only be called a regular bouncer and after a initial blasé reaction, he collapsed and was rushed to hospital. He went into an induced coma after an operation but failed to regain consciousness and died.
Phillip Hughes was a promising top order batsman who was pushing to get into the Australian side on a regular basis. His test average was 32 but he was seen to have a great future especially when he recorded back to back test century which put him into the record book as the youngest to have done this feat.
He also gained fame for being the first Australian to score a century on his debut in the one day international match against Sri Lanka.
Phillip Hughes was struck on the head by a ball bowled by New South Wales bowler Sean Abbott. It struck Phillip Hughes just under his right ear and this led to the problems that led to his death.
