Donna Summer

Singing songs about sex is as old as wishing to fly to the moon. Every artist worth their salt has had a deep and meaningful association with the the perils of sex.

What Donna Summer did was take it a step forward by letting the audience get the impression that she was somehow engaging in real sex, live on the single.

Her music will always be associated to the glamour of disco and especially the minimalism of pan-European electronic music espoused by Georgio Moroder. Donna Summer received loads of accolades for the way she manage to create the mood of her music transcend the coolness of the synthesized sound, in the form of Grammys and other highly prized awards.

Donna Summer later renounced then embraced her music after she became a born again Christian. She was said to have attacked homosexual lifestyle and was said to have claimed that AIDS was God’s punishment for an immoral behaviour. This she denied and later sued The New York  magazine for repeating the allegations.

The cause of her death was down to cancer. and Donna Summer blamed the effects of the 9/11 attacks for causing the cancer to grow. She had an apartment not far from where the buildings were, when they got destroyed.
