Now being a sort of clued up guy I seem to manage to get to the last 20 – 30 people quite easy, its the final push to win that comes difficult. I find that unless I take risk such as going all in with 6-5 suited I will not gain a shot at winning the tournament.
Taking a shot a 6-5 suited maybe ok if your massive chip leader against an opponents/s who are short stack, however, when you are the person who is short stack it can be suicidal. But inevitable it is the way to go if you want to win.
I don’t mind that risk because poker is not an exact science and beating yourself up because you allowed a donk to gain a foot hold when slow playing a pair of Ace’s is really a fruitless exercise. The thing that gets me is losing to bad internet connection. At the moment my mobile broadband is so useless that I am thinking of suing the provider for loss of earnings – literally!
Twice now being dropped of while connected has cost me prize money and when you’re struggling to win it is no joke. What can I do about this? Well I have tried using a second back up connection but this leads to problems when swapping modems etc. Also cost goes up and the value goes down because ultimately you do not use all the allowance.
To non-UK readers this may seem very parochial because it is always benefit/cost ratio and we in the UK do know the value of a penny. Bit it is important to worry about cost when you constantly lose or finish outside the money due to loose play brought on by being caught out by donks and bad internet connection – am I repeating myself?
OK back to what I should do to break this link of constant bad karma. I have decided to improve my karma with more sensible play by taking these steps
1. Help old ladies across the road.
2. Relax more by chilling before an online game.
3. Only 1 can of alcohol before a game and coffee during the game.
4. Non-obtrusive music/TV during the game.
5. Break away from the computer between games.
6. Leave rubbish horse racing alone.
7. Leave online cash games alone since I do not have the patience for them.
8. Do not answer the phone when in the middle of the game
9. Go into a Zen like state by focusing on the game totally and not drift away.
10. When I know I am beaten don’t bet anyway.
11. If internet connections look like failing just go all in if the hole cards look good.
With these steps in place I will hopefully improve my return on investment in these tournaments.
As a sideline from this rather heavy post of misery and self flagellation here is the video of Lady Ga Ga alleged penis on stage at a festival.
