Disconnected are the words I am hating at the moment. With my mobile broadband really playing up, the amount of times I have been disconnected is being to get me down and playing like an all-in donk.
Most of the time it happens when I have rubbish and that’s not a problem, it’s when I have a nice juicy pair like KK’s or AA’s that it really hurts. When this happens or I think it is going to happen I tend to go all in to make sure that I don’t miss out of any juicy picking’s.
The funniest time it happened to me was when I was in a tourney and some guy raised me when I had a pair of AA’s, I re-raised and he went all in leaving me with 62.5 to call! At that precise moment my internet connection went down leaving me angry and bitter as I would have certainly won that had. It also made me the laughing stock on that particular table.
Luckily I went onto win the tournament and getting the money made things a lot better, I then tried to have a game of Omaha and it happened twice when I had the nuts flush and when I I had 3 Ace’s and there were 5 other players in the game. I managed to get re-connected but by then it was too late and I would have had the nut full house.
The other thing I hate about ‘disconnected’ is when someone else is disconnected but they finished ahead of you because you got beaten or more likely sucked out. This is extremely gnawing as I have done this numerous times losing out on the prize money. I have even done it when all I have to do is fold my hand and more than likely I will end up in the prize money!
I don’t know what it is but I loose all sense of perspective and go for hands that I should keep well clear. It is mostly aggressive boredom, and, I tiredness that is my main problem. I forget the bigger picture and lose it by not wanting to be pushed around by the big stack table bully or some bluffing no mark.
Sometimes those online players must be loving it when they know I am 5 or 6 places from the money because all you have to do is push me around for a couple of hands and I will bite like a good little fishy!
Sometimes it works to my advantage because I do sometimes win but if I could wait until the disconnected were out of the game then I play my natural game and push my way up to win the tournament. Online poker can be a real ass kicker at time.
The good thing at the moment is that I don’t have to pay for my broadband because they have given me 4 months free which is cool and the option to leave my contract if it does not perform better so all I have to do is wait until some great big special offer comes out and then jump ship as it were.
