The Merge Meltdown Continues

Pokerview Down

The one genuine online poker site that tried to implement the fabled poker 2.0 has disappeared. PokerView which attempted to have live webcams featuring real live players playing online poker suddenly closed on the 1st of April 2013.

The reason for the closure has not been announced, however, it seems that all the players can still play because the preferred Merge online sites will take up the players and the accounts will keep their integrity except for bonus points, loyalty schemes etc.

The two main points other than the loss of a truly genuine attempt to create a live experience online is:

1. The continuing decline of Merge
2. Why are players losing VIP points and tournament tickets if they are still on Merge?

The Merge Meltdown is without a doubt a worrying situation since they lost Lock Poker, True Poker, Black Chip, Hero Poker, RPM Poker, Overbet and Iron Duke. Obviously there is a problem at the heart of why the poker website is not doing the business. Maybe it is the downbeat nature of the colour scheme of the network which makes it so unattractive, who knows?

Merge could be interesting with its bad beat jackpots which gave players a reason to play a lot, so it seems strange that the relative new network should be having so much difficulties with skins leaving or disappearing.
If players are being  transferred to other skins within the network it seems that letting players keep the special promotions that they earned would be a good thing. First it shows that they are not losers and dead beats, and, second it shows commitment that other skins are not going to fold. All the promo scheme like VIP points are technically money as they have value in the sense that you can use them to earn which is why we as customers deposit money and play poker. We do it because we like to win money and we use anything to win money.

Anyway the people at Merge better get their act together before the downward spiral become a death spiral in a journey of no return.
