While having a poker school, I mean literally a poker school – teaching people to play poker I saw an amazing site a complete beginner slow playing a pair of aces and getting paid off big style. It was beautiful to watch as it meant my pupil had graduated.
It is great to realise that your work has done and another poker freak has emerged. I have great hope for this pupil more than I had for any pupil. He is a quick learner and has very quiet tells that even had me fooled as I swallowed his subterfuge hook, line and sinker. As for the opponent that got hugely stung – well for a so called poker expert it was hugely funny watching someone being taken apart with precision.
Throughout the whole game it was not as if the cards was smacking the novice in the face, throughout the whole night his hands were pretty meagre so to finally get paid and paid big when up against a very tight player, fooling even me was pure joy.
I will monitor this person because I can see me and him bucking heads and I need as much information on my latest protégée. Don’t worry yours truly will get a mark on this interloper and will finally have him in my pocket as I do all other regular players that I have taught. Whets the point in being a teacher if you cannot teach how to play in the style you want them to play?
Don’t worry I have warned them that I will beat them if I played them, that’s why I am the tournament director. Being tournament director you get to see a player in action without putting any chips up, so when you do play, you will already had some insight into your opponents betting patterns and strategy. Obviously they have watched the various programs and heard that you must mix your game up etc etc. But in the end most players are creatures of habit and will do what they always do – hand money over to the better player.
The Poker Totty Collective is growing and they are keen to get stuck into some live tournaments so watch this space.
